Regan Walker ~ Featured Beau Monde Author

Regan Walker, Featured Beau Monde AuthorRegan didn’t begin to write romance until she’d already had a decades-long career in law. But she wrote stories as a child and never lost her love of seeing fantasy come to life on the page. When she discovered the world of historical romance, she began reviewing novels. She has 500 reviews on Amazon and 10 “best” lists as well as her own blog, Regan’s Romance Reviews.

As she was describing one story that had captivated her to her best friend, the friend said, “Why don’t you write one? You tell great stories and you write well.” So she did.

Her first novel, RACING WITH THE WIND, is set in London and Paris in 1816, and tells the story of a rebellious young woman, Lady Mary Campbell who determines to go to Paris with her statesman uncle over the objections of a British lord.

There is much of her in that character, not surprisingly. As Regan had served at high levels of government, it’s not surprising that her first trilogy, of which RACING is book 1, is Agents of the Crown, and features heroes who tackle unusual assignments for the Prince Regent.

It’s available on Amazon and the Prologue can be read on Regan’s website, http://www.reganwalkerauthor.com.

Regan is a member of RWA and The Beau Monde, San Diego and Greater Seattle chapters, as well as Savvy Authors and Romance Writers Uncensored. She likes to stay connected with other authors, to support them and vicariously enjoy their successes. She lives in San Diego with her Golden Retriever and considers it paradise! She has one son, 23, who is gorgeous. (You can see his pic on her website.)

Anna Small wrote her first romance novel when she was 16.  Anna had completed four more by the time she was out of college.  She grew up in England, so all those early manuscripts are set there.

Anna says…… I’m going back to my writing roots with a new Regency historical romance, IN THE ARMS OF AN EARL, contracted with The Wild Rose Press for release in 2013. It’s my third published novel.

I live in Florida with my husband, Walter, and our two kids who challenge us every day. I enjoy traveling, history, reading, crafts, and boating.

A member of RWA for the past several years, I’m a proud member of the Tampa Area Romance Authors, The Beau Monde, and the Sunshine State Romance Authors, where I’m the PRO Liaison and Librarian!

Gail Eastwood – Featured Beau Monde Author

Gail Eastwood  is today’s Featured Author for The Beau Monde Regency chapter of Romance Writers of America.

Gail Eastwood

Gail Eastwood started writing stories at an early age, but spent almost twenty years as a journalist, theatre critic and PR consultant, among other jobs, before she finally wrote and sold her first novel, achieving her childhood dream.

That first book and six more Signet Regencies that followed won awards and recognition, including The Golden Leaf for Best Regency, 1994. Gail was nominated by Romantic Times Magazine for Career Achievement in the Regency category for two years in a row.

Gail’s love for the Regency period comes naturally from her love for England and for history, which she claims are “in the blood,” plus all the special qualities we admire and enjoy about this unique time.

Hailed by reviewers as “a master at painting pictures of Regency life,” Gail had earned a growing reputation as a writer who pushed the genre to new levels with emotional depth and original plots, until family health issues took her out of the field for ten years. Now she’s excited to be back, working on a new book along with the ebook reissues of her backlist.

She lives in RI in a “refilled nest” with her husband, two adult sons and one very lazy cat.

Gail Whitiker is today’s Featured Author for The Beau Monde Regency chapter of Romance Gail WhitikerWriters of America.

Gail Whitiker

Originally hailing from Wales, Gail says her fascination with the Regency period began during frequent trips back to visit family and friends, when Sunday afternoon drives would inevitably lead to a castle, a cathedral, or a country house hotel (where she also discovered an unfortunate fondness for Devonshire cream teas and sticky toffee pudding).

She wrote her first novel in high school, but it was another twelve years before she actually sent something to a publisher and got The Call.

Improper Miss DarlingSince then, she has written over twenty historical and paranormal romances, both as Gail Whitiker and Gail Crease.

Her latest Regency novel, IMPROPER MISS DARLING, was a February release from Mills & Boon Historicals.

Gail makes her home on the beautiful west coast of Canada, where she’s happy to say that umbrellas outnumber snow shovels.

She loves to travel and thinks the idea of writing a novel while sipping wine in Tuscany would have to be about as good as it gets!

Grace Kone (Blair Bancroft) – Featured Beau Monde Author

Grace Kone (Blair Bancroft) is today’s Featured Beau Monde Author

Grace Kone’s Biography –

I began writing (as Blair Bancroft) later than most because my mother was the successful author of children’s books, and it never occurred to me we could have two writers in the same family.

When I did make the attempt, the Regency was closest to my heart. But since I truly believe variety is the spice of life, I also write Romantic Suspense, Thrillers, Mystery, Futuristic, and Steampunk.

My Tarleton’s Wife won a Golden Heart and The Indifferent Earl, a RITA finalist, was chosen Best Regency by Romantic Times.

In 2011 I went “indie” with my backlist and am thoroughly enjoying the renaissance of my traditional Regencies.

A new Regency novella, Mistletoe Moment, was published by Ellora’s Cave (Blush) for the holidays.

Alicia Rasley – Featured Beau Monde Author

Alicia Rasley is today’s Featured Beau Monde Author.

Alicia grew up as the oldest girl in a family of ten. She had a lot of responsibility early, but she is a self-admitted daydreamer. Books provided an escape from her routine life, and some of the books she read were the Regency novels of Georgette Heyer. "Suddenly there was a new world for me, far from the noise and chaos of a big family and school, a place of elegance and wit," she tells us. She was inspired to write Regencies, and after beginning a dozen, she finished her first when she was twenty-five. She wrote a half dozen Regencies, winning a Rita Award along the way.

But Alicia did not stay entirely faithful to Regency novels. She wrote a couple of women’s fiction novels and two non-fiction writing how-tos. But she has returned to the writing of Regencies once again, admitting that she has been seduced back into that elegant, exciting time and place. She likes rakish heroes, reckless heroines and elegant stories.

Regardless of all the romance she has read and written, Alicia says she has always been practical and is the most unromantic romance writer one would ever meet. She pours all her romantic notions into her writing. "Just ask my husband!" she says. "He’ll tell you he really gets off easy when it comes to anniversary and birthday gifts!"

Her most recent novel is The Year She Fell.

Lauren is currently an Intellectual Property attorney with both American and Canadian law degrees, but she stays up late to write by the flashlight app on her smart phone. She loves writing Regency and paranormal romances. In addition to the Beau Monde, she belongs to the Oklahoma Outlaws and Passionate Ink where she writes erotic romance under the pen name Emma Rochester. Lauren was a 2011 semi-finalist for the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Award. She was a quarter-finalist for the 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.

Wendy Soliman - Beau Monde author headshot

Wendy Soliman is today’s Featured Beau Monde Author.

A British author who grew up on the Isle of Wight in southern England, Wendy was surrounded by historic buildings, castles and ancient ruins. With all that, she says it is little wonder that her first love is historical romance. So far, she has published nine Regency romances and has just started work on a new series which features the Forster dynasty.

Her most recent release from Carina Press is A Scandalous Proposition, featuring a handsome major in the Napoleonic wars and a Spanish heroine with links to the local house of ill-repute. Her next book, The Perfect Impostor, will be released in April, also from Carina Press. When two friends change places for a week, what could possibly go wrong?

Wendy is a member of the RWA, the Tampa Bay Chapter of the RWA, The British Romantic Novelists’ Association, and The British Society of Authors, Novelists Inc. She now divides her time between Andorra and Florida. She lives with her husband, Andre, and a rescued dog of indeterminate pedigree, named after the hero in one of her books, on the basis that they’re both handsome hunks, with independent spirits and naughty streaks.
